Model and controller reduction for flexible aircraft preserving robust performance

چکیده
This paper presents a systematic model/controller order reduction method applied to flexible aircraft. The method, based on mixed μ -synthesis, determines which flexible modes can be truncated from the full-order model of the aircraft and finds a corresponding reduced-order controller preserving robust closed-loop performance. This method is of interest for practical model and controller reduction for flexible aircraft because in this context it is important to keep the physical interpretation of the truncated and remaining modes. A numerical example is worked out for a flexible model of a B-52 bomber.

Robust Adaptive Attitude Stabilization of a Fighter Aircraft in the Presence of Input Constraints
The problem of attitude stabilization of a fighter aircraft is investigated in this paper. The practical aspects of a real physical system like existence of external disturbance with unknown upper bound and actuator saturation are considered in the process of controller design of this aircraft. In order to design a robust autopilot in the presence of the actuator saturation, the Composite Nonli...
متن کاملDesign of Nonlinear Robust Controller and Observer for Control of a Flexible Spacecraft
Two robust nonlinear controllers along with a nonlinear observer have been developed in this study to control a 1D nonlinear flexible spacecraft. The first controller is based on dynamic inversion, while the second one is composed of dynamic inversion and µ-synthesis controllers. The extension of dynamic inversion approach to flexible spacecraft is impeded by the non-minimum phase characteristi...
متن کاملRobust Fixed-order Gain-scheduling Autopilot Design using State-space Stability-Preserving Interpolation
In this paper, a robust autopilot is proposed using stable interpolation based on Youla parameterization. The most important condition of stable interpolation between local controllers is the preservation of stability so that each local controller can ensure stability for an open neighborhood around a nominal point. The proposed design used fixed-order robust controller with parameter-dependent...
متن کاملEnhancement of Robust Tracking Performance via Switching Supervisory Adaptive Control
When the process is highly uncertain, even linear minimum phase systems must sacrifice desirable feedback control benefits to avoid an excessive ‘cost of feedback’, while preserving the robust stability. In this paper, the problem of supervisory based switching Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT) control is proposed for the control of highly uncertain plants. According to this strategy, the unce...
متن کاملMathematical Model and Vibration Analysis of Aircraft with Active Landing Gear System using Linear Quadratic Regulator Technique
This paper deals with the study and comparison of passive and active landing gear system of the aircraft and dynamic responses due to runway irregularities while the aircraft is taxying. The dynamic load and vibration caused by the unevenness of runway will result in airframe fatigue, discomfort of passengers and the reduction of the pilot’s ability to control the aircraft. One of the objectiv...
